"How To Heel" - A Step by Step Guide to Learn How To Heely

HOW TO HEEL

As soon as you get your brand new, fresh pair of Heelys the first thing you want to do is strap them on, hit the streets or parks and Heel. Heely-ing is easy enough to pick up but can take a bit of getting used to. At Rawk we send a 'How to Heel' DVD with every Heelys order, but in case you'd like a step-by-step 'Heelys How To', then here you go.........

Find The Balancing Point:

1. Find a rail, counter, or friend that you can hold onto in order to keep your balance.
2. Put one foot in front of the other (NEVER side by side).
3. Figure out which foot you feel most comfortable with in back - it's often your strong leg.
4. Hold onto the counter and lift your toes up - balancing your weight on your wheels - and pull yourself along.
5. If you lose your balance, simply put your toes down.
6. Once you're comfortable balancing on the wheels move to the next steps.

Starting - Stop, Plant and Kick:

1. Take a normal step forward with what used to be your "back" foot.
2. Take a second step forward with your other foot, and plant the wheel (toes up).
3. Kick or push off with your foot that's in the back.
4. Raise your back toe with your weight balanced on the wheel (locking your back knee will make this easier).
5. Roll and place your back foot DIRECTLY behind your front foot )toes on both feet should be raised up).

Stopping - Soft Brake or Hard Break:

Soft Brake - To stop using the soft brake method, lift the toes of your back foot up a bit higher in order to drap the heel portion of the shoe along the ground to gradually slow your speed until you come to a complete stop.
Hard Brake - To stop using the hard brake method, simply transfer your weight to your forefoot (on both feet) and "jog" or "run" out of your roll to a stop.
